Self-Connection and Empathy

What do you do when a co-worker, student or client is upset with you? How do you react to frustrating moments with your boss? What goes through your mind when a colleague does something - for the umpteenth time - that considerably annoys you? What do you say to yourself when you are disappointed in something you have done, or have not done?

How do you wish you had responded to these situations?

Compassionate Communication - also known as Nonviolent Communication (NVC) - offers tools for discovering what is most important to us at the deepest levels and from this clarity, helps us to be in real choice from moment to moment, as opposed to reacting from our habitual patterns and fears. It supports us to deepen our consciousness and to be fully the people we would want to be in our workplaces, our intimate relationships, and with all those we meet in our daily lives.

About Our Speaker:

“I am passionate about holding space for people who want to deepen their self-care and to heal themselves, whether from the stresses of daily life or the repercussions of more momentous events.” - Ranjana Ariaratnam

Ranjana (Ranji) Ariaratnam (along with her partner David Johnson) shares NVC with groups, couples, individuals and organizations through workshops, series, group facilitation, mediation and private sessions. Ranji also offers TRE (Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises) which she has found can significantly complement NVC.

Ranji draws on experiences from her years overseas as a humanitarian aid worker in Africa, Asia, and the Balkans working with people displaced by conflict, in roles such as Program Coordinator, (Human Rights) Protection Coordinator, Protection Technical Advisor, and Deputy Director, plus over 165 days of training with world-renowned NVC trainers.
